Meet your trainer

Amelia Birrell

My own dogs are far from perfect — and that's exactly what led me here. Learning to understand them, with patience and trust, shaped everything about how I train today.

I'm completing my Level 6 Diploma in Clinical Canine Behaviour — the only Ofqual-regulated qualification of its kind in the world — alongside certifications from the IMDT and Victoria Stilwell's Academy. I work exclusively with force-free, positive-reinforcement methods that build trust and confidence, never fear.

You'll always work directly with me for training and behaviour. For dog walking, I partner with a hand-picked team who are fully insured and DBS-checked — so your dog is in kind, capable hands whoever shows up at your door.

Good to know

The questions we're asked most.

Straight answers, no jargon. Anything else — the free phone call is exactly for that.

Ask Amelia
What does force-free dog training actually mean?

It means we only ever use reward-based, science-led methods — no lead jerks, no shouting, no "corrections", no aversive tools. Your dog learns because good things happen when they get it right, which builds confidence and trust rather than fear. It's the approach backed by the IMDT, Victoria Stilwell's Academy and modern behavioural science, and it works for every breed and temperament.

Which areas of London do you cover?

We're based in SE3 and work across South East London — Blackheath, Greenwich, Lewisham, Charlton, Hither Green, Deptford, Ladywell and Catford. Group Puppy School runs in Charlton. If you're further afield, virtual sessions give you the same expert guidance anywhere in the UK, and we're happy to talk about travel.

Where do training sessions take place?

Usually in your home and on your local streets and parks — because that's where the behaviour actually happens, and it means what your dog learns transfers straight into real life. Group Puppy School classes are held in Charlton.

How do I know which package is right for us?

Start with the free phone consultation. In fifteen minutes we'll talk through your dog, your goals and your week, and we'll recommend the simplest route — that might be a single session, a pack, or one of the courses. Most families begin with an initial consultation so you leave with a clear written plan.

My dog is reactive — barking, lunging or shutting down. Can you help?

Yes — this is what the Reactive Dog Package is built for, and it's where Amelia's clinical canine behaviour training matters most. We start by understanding the triggers, put a management plan in place so life gets easier straight away, then work through a step-by-step training plan with free support between sessions.

How long are packages valid, and can I renew?

Session packs are valid for 12 months from purchase, so you can space them around your dog's needs. Courses run weekly by default but we'll adapt the schedule to you. Any package can be renewed once your last session has been used.
